In an effort to spread the word through as many avenues as possible, Daniel has arranged to have a brief video created about the work done at Casa Hogar Jeruel. It’s two and a half minutes long, and it describes how Casa Hogar Jeruel helped a little boy who had no one to care for him. Please click on the play button to watch the video.

Casa Hogar Jeruel
Welcome to the homepage for Casa Hogar Jeruel. Casa Hogar Jeruel is an orphanage located in Chihuahua City, Mexico. The orphanage was founded in 1986 by Daniel and Sylvia Banda. The orphanage seeks to provide a stable, loving, Christian environment for underprivileged children around Chihuahua City and northern Mexico. Casa Hogar Jeruel is not affiliated with any specific organization or denomination, and it receives very little assistance from the Mexican government. Casa Hogar Jeruel is sustained by the generosity of individuals and small churches throughout the United States.
The children at Casa Hogar Jeruel often come from backgrounds of physical and sexual abuse, and they have many special needs. Daniel Banda is a licensed psychologist, and he works with the children to help them overcome the many problems associated with abuse. Yet Daniel will readily testify that psychology alone is not enough to solve the children's problems. Daniel believes that only God can fully heal the children's wounds, and Casa Hogar Jeruel provides the children with a Christian atmosphere where they can experience the love of Christ in their lives. Casa Hogar Jeruel provides for the children's emotional and spiritual needs in addition to their physical needs.
In addition, Daniel believes that Casa Hogar Jeruel should be a beacon of light within the community. Casa Hogar Jeruel is located in a very poor section of Chihuahua City, and there are many people in the neighborhood seeking God's hope and peace. Casa Hogar Jeruel is not only an orphanage, but it is a church as well. Not only do the children attend, but residents from the local community attend, too. At one time, Casa Hogar Jeruel also operated a Christian school, though the expense became too great and they had to shut it down. Daniel still hopes that someday there will be enough money to reopen the school and provide the children with a good Christian education.
We are glad you have arrived at this website. If this is your first time, we invite you to check out the history of Casa Hogar Jeruel and view some photographs of the orphanage and the church building. You should also listen to the Christian music played by Daniel's sons and members of the church. It's in Spanish, but even those who don't speak the language still appreciate the music. You might also want to read about the various groups who come on work and witness trips. Almost everyone who participates on such a trip describes it as a very rewarding experience. Please keep us in your prayers, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us using the form on the right.
If you are a returning visitor to this site, please check out the news and events section to find out what has been happening lately. If you are considering helping Casa Hogar Jeruel, please read the current needs and how to help sections to find out how you can best assist. Thank you for taking an interest in Casa Hogar Jeruel, and please keep us in your prayers.
Note that another church group has independently created a website for Casa Hogar Jeruel here.
Some people wonder about the meaning of the word Jeruel in the name, since it's not Spanish. Though there are several interpretations, one of the most common is "founded by God" (See Smith's Bible Dictionary). The phrase "casa hogar" is a common Spanish expression for "children's home". So Casa Hogar Jeruel means, "children's home founded by God". As many already know, it's a very fitting name.
Well, OK, it is probably a bit of an exaggeration to claim that Casa Hogar Jeruel is one of the top ten Christian orphanages in Mexico. Still, if you go to Google and search for “Christian orphanages in Mexico”, you’ll see that this orphanage appears on the first page, currently in the 9th position. Of course, where Google ranks our website has little to do with how many good things are accomplished at Casa Hogar Jeruel. The work at Casa Hogar Jeruel began before Google even existed. In today’s world, though, the Internet provides an ideal way of spreading the message about the good things God is doing at the orphanage. Unfortunately, Casa Hogar Jeruel doesn’t have the money for an advertising budget, so we are completely reliant on word-of-mouth and people finding us using search engines like Google. These search engines calculate their rankings of our website based on an analysis of the content on the webpages, the frequency of updates to the site, and the number of other websites that link to us. The first two items are in our control, but the last one is up to people like you reading this page. If your organization or church has a website, please consider talking to the website administrator and having him or her add a link to us. It’s free, very easy to do, and very helpful to us in spreading our message. The more links we get, the better our ranking will be, and more people will find us when searching for information about orphanages in Mexico. Please feel free to contact us using our contact form if you have questions or need more information.
If you've visited this website before, you may notice that there have been some changes. We have added some new information on the how to help page. If you are considering helping our orphanage or wish to donate clothes or other items, please check out that information. Also, we have added a photo gallery with hundreds of pictures, and a forum to allow people to post their experiences and exchange stories. Please check out the new additions and let us know what you think.
Providing for the needs of the children who live at the orphanage is very expensive, even in Mexico. Unfortunately, Casa Hogar Jeruel usually struggles to raise enough money to cover expenses. Please help us by making a donation. Your generosity will help ensure that Casa Hogar Jeruel will not have to turn away a child in need.
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 19:14
